tz2013a on github now, not yet at IANA

At this point I consider the tz version on github to be the next official release. I've updated its version number accordingly, to tz2013a. I am still working through security hassles getting it officially installed at IANA. The current hangup is an incompatibility between my secure client (64-bit GNU/Linux) and IANA's authenticator (something written by Juniper that insists on 32-bit Java), which we have not yet ironed out.

I've attached a potentially useful script; it also appears in tab-mangled form below; it's designed to identify time zones that are the same in the long run. Given the name of a zone.tab file and the name of a time-zone-binary directory, the script runs through the zones mentioned in zone.tab and finds the associated POSIX string that applies after the last transition time specified in the zone's binary file. Each line of output begins with a POSIX string, followed by the name of each zone to which that string applies; output is sorted by POSIX string. So: AFT-4:30 Asia/Kabul AKST9AKDT,M3.2.0,M11.1.0 America/Anchorage America/Juneau America/Sitka America/Yakutat America/Nome ... Gaza in 2013 -- anything official?

Hi there, timeanddate.com lists for Gaza in 2013 what appears to be extension of 2012 rules[1]. The pattern in the last several years has been mostly that there is no pattern. The dates were all over the place, Ramadan even kicked in once. I take it that the dates at [1] are simply a guess, but by any chance, does anyone have an information about what should the rules in 2013 be?
