Re: [tz] tz Digest, Vol 17, Issue 12
The "official instructions", which explain how Easter Island (b) and Antarctica and the continent (a) work as well, can now be found at: http://www.horaoficial.cl/cambio.htm Google Translate does a pretty good job on this page, so I won't bother to translate the whole thing. Also, unfortunately, I won't have time to create a patch this week, so if someone else could do so, I'd appreciate it. Hey, at least they gave us more than a few days notice this year. Thanks, -G.

I assume that Easter Island and Palmer Station in Antarctica are following this year's special schedule as well. Correct?

According to several news sources, Chile has extended DST this year, they will end DST later and start DST earlier than planned. They hope to save energy.
The new end date is 2013-04-28 00:00 and new start date is 2013-09-08 00:00.

Sorry I couldn't get to this this year, but it appears to be taken care of. Also, I just wanted to say that I agree with extending the current (new) rules indefinitely; it definitely appears that the government wants to make this the "new normal" in Chile due to the claimed energy savings (0.6%), even if they are continuing to do it year-to-year. -G.
