PUBLIC NOTICE ON DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME Pursuant to the Daylight Saving Act 2009 and Cabinet’s decision, businesses and the general public are hereby advised that daylight saving time is on the first Saturday of April 2011 (02/04/11). The public is therefore advised that when the standard time strikes the hour of four o’clock (4.00am or 0400 Hours) on the 2nd April 2011, then all instruments used to measure standard time are to be adjusted/changed to three o’clock (3:00am or 0300Hrs). Dry Tortugas is Central or Eastern Time?

I just went to Dry Tortugas National Park last weekend, about 70 miles west of Key West. Before going, I had noticed that wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eastern_Time_Zone#North_America) mentioned that there was some debate about if the Dry Tortugas were in the Central or the Eastern time zone. While there, I went into the bookstore and asked if there was any truth to them being on Central Time. They looked at me as if this was the first they ever heard about this. In fact, it doesn't make any sense that they would be on anything other than Eastern Time as 99% of those visiting there are arriving via Key West, which is on Eastern Time. So, I went and modified the wikipedia page to remove the apparent misinformation about Dry Tortugas possibly being on Central Time. I then did a google search and came up with a couple of pages (http://keywestseaplanecharters.com/Tips-Secrets/default.asp, http://www.mendosa.com/fitnessblog/?p=6947) claiming that they are officially on Central Time, but that Eastern Time is used there. Is there any truth to Dry Tortugas being officially on Central Time? Did they used to be on Central Time in the past? Aaron

Chile - Daylight Saving Time extension in 2011

Hi, Due to a drought and as one of several actions to avoid a future electricity shortfall this year, Chile extends Daylight Saving Time till early April. According to media reports, this one-time change will take place on Saturday, April 2nd at 24:00 for America/Santiago and on Saturday, April 2nd at 22:00 for Pacific/Easter. Below find proposed changes to the time zone package; the executive summary: * leapseconds Update notice from IERS (change to commentary only) * northamerica Replace Juneau with Juneau, Sitka, and Metlakatla. * southamerica Delay end of DST in 2011 until first Sunday in April. * tz-art.htm Add material on episode of "Outsourced." * zone.tab Replace Juneau with Juneau, Sitka, and Metlakatla. These change do affect current time stamps in Metlakatla and immiment time stamps in Chile. I'm waiting on making changes to Russia until we learn whether or not their new, year-round time will be called standard time; we'll see what happens at the end of this month.
