Hello IANA, UPS has an interface agreement with IANA for Time Zone Information. We are testing other requirements and we came across a few concerns. I am working on researching and fixing some time zone concerns for our UPS properties in a few of the data bases I support. I have a few questions: When was the Time Zone Name (TznGeoRefTe) for America/Aruba obsoleted? What is the updated Time Zone Name (TznGeoRefTe) which replaced America/Aruba? When was this notified to your user community? Are all countries identified in IANA with a Time Zone Name (TznGeoRefTe)? I was researching Aruba (AW) and St. Martin (SX), the outcome resulted in an empty result set. These questions are a follow-up, to the empty result set, received from queries. According to http://www.timeanddate.com/news/time/fort-nelson-canada-time-zone.html Fort Nelson, BC, Canada will cancel DST this year. So while previously they were aligned with America/Vancouver, they're now aligned with America/Dawson_Creek. Does this type of split require a new zone entry? America/Fort_Nelson ?? Thanks,Matt

Hi all there, I'm responding to a mail which is more than an year old. Anyway, I don't understand why you combine zones like +Link Africa/Abidjan Africa/Freetown # Sierra Leone thus throwing away valuable pre-1970 DST and Zone data. I understand that you cannot incoreporate all historical data in 'tzdata', especially the USA and France would be impossible without creating virtually hundreds of additional zones. But in the case above I don't understand why you don't keep the data. Well it seems that you're going to make the change no matter what, so talking about it does feel rather futile. Its no surprise that changing relatively minor locations results in few issues. Nor is it a surprise that this list wouldn't hear of any issues, because its so far from end users. I can guarantee that the data you have and are planning to destroy is in somebodies database somewhere as both Joda-Time and Java SE 8 expose the full data right back to and including LMT to all users for all zones. As I said last time, the issue isn't removing wrong values, its about replacing them with even more wrong ones. The LMT values in particular, which used to have some meaning, now do not. If you had proposed an alternate way to define LMT values (which were based on the actual city location) then I might be less frustrated. The attached proposed patch implements a change noted in yesterday's Morocco World News. I have not seen an official announcement by the Moroccan government. I suppose we'll need a new tzdata release soon, as the change takes effect in less than nine days.

New Abbreviation needed for Asia/Pyongyang

Hi, I noticed in the 2015f tz database that the new Asia/Pyongyang zone for North Korea (now UTC+8:30) has the same abbreviation as Asia/Seoul. Both are noted as KST. Should the abbreviation for Asia/Pyongyang by changed to NKST, perhaps? Pardon if this issue has already been discussed, or if a new abbreviation has already been decided.
