Iran uses DST again

Hi all, From 2008, Iran uses DST again which was not used for some years. In Jalali calendar, it starts on 1/1 and it'll end on 06/30. In Gregorian calendar, it starts on 03/21 and ends on 09/21. But every 4 years (2008 is one of them) on our leap years, it'll become 03/20 and 09/20. I was unable to find any English reference, but anyway, the following references mention this change. The file... ftp://elsie.nci.nih.gov/pub/tzdata2008b.tar.gz ...is now available; this reflects the changes circulated last week on the time zone mailing list (including renaming Asia/Calcutta to Asia/Kolkata, with a backward link provided). It's the season for changes, and I'm still hoping to get good documentation on what happened in Venezuela earlier this year, so expect a tzdata2008c.tar.gz fairly soon. --ado

Last time it was already proposed to use the capital "Hanoi" instead or in addition, but I understand that you usually use the largest city, not capitals. I take it that didn't change? We have fixed this by hand-entering the timezone name as "America/Miquelon." The web server we used to obtain the timezone (given lat/lon coordinates) gave "Etc/GMT-3" and that was the primary source of our confusion. Renaming Saigon to TP Ho Chi Minh

Hello tzdata developers, I already contacted you about this a little while ago, but the discussion didn't get very far. In https://launchpad.net/bugs/121540, Vientamese users make quite a clear statement that "Saigon" is obsolete and, more importantly, politically sensitive. The current name of that city has been "Ho Chi Minh" for very long, so it should be renamed to "TP Ho Chi Minh", and Saigon should get a transitional link. Last time it was already proposed to use the capital "Hanoi" instead or in addition, but I understand that you usually use the largest city, not capitals. I take it that didn't change?
