Problem with the threadsafe programm.

Hello, I am doing a work experience at Opteway and I am following your work about time zone. I am also working about the threadsafe version and I noticed some problems. The problem : when I use the "tz_prep" function of the library "libtz.a", it indicates me an error. This function works correctly on Linux but doesn't work neither on SunOS nor on Tru64. Thank you for your attention.

Hi all, In the europe file by Britain it states that: 'An old stone obelisk marking a forgotten terrestrial meridian stands beside the river at Kew. In the 18th century, before time and longitude was standardised by the Royal Observatory in Greenwich, scholars observed this stone and the movement of stars from Kew Observatory nearby. They made their calculations and set the time for the Horse Guards and Parliament, but now the stone is obscured by scrubwood and can only be seen by walking along the towpath within a few yards of it.' On a recent visit to London I discovered this Obelisk by walking along the Thames towpath from Richmond and took some photos. We've stuck them on our website http://www.timezoneticker.com/Kew.htm. The building in the distance is the Old Royal Observatory in Kew. The water in the picture is not the Thames but a small stream running adjacent to the main river. Plea to Microsoft to allow RTC=UTC

I have managed to get someone inside Microsoft interested in the problems of the old MS-DOS convention of keeping the RTC in some local time that is not further specified in the CMOS RAM data. I was asked to write up a case to convince Microsoft management to dedicate resources for fixing this and enabling the Windows RTC driver to maintain the battery clock in Universal Time instead of local time. I just did so on http://www.cl.cam.ac.uk/~mgk25/mswish/ut-rtc.html and I would like to invite all computer time gurus out there to review this brief essay before I send it off to Redmond. Please let me know if you have any further - arguments - technical suggestions/proposals - related references - URLs of well-documented RTC DST problem stories that you think that whoever at Microsoft touches the Windows RTC code next should be aware of. *************************************************************************** IERS Message No. 11 June 29, 2001 *************************************************************************** Journees 2001 Systemes de Reference Spatio-Temporels "Influence of geophysics, time and space reference frames on Earth rotation studies" Brussels, Belgium, 24-26 September 2001 Invitation The Journes 2001 Systemes de Reference (JSR) with the sub-title "Influence of geophysics, time and space reference frames on Earth rotation studies" will be organised in Brussels, Belgium, 24-26 September 2001, jointly by the Royal Observatory of Belgium, the Institut d'Astronomie et de Geophysique G. Lemaitre from the Catholic University of Louvain (UCL) and the Observatoire de Paris. The problems to be discussed in 2001 are related to various geophysical effects on Earth rotation such as geophysical fluids, tides, oceanic and atmospheric perturbations, as well as to the effects of time and space reference frames, such as time transfer, realisation of time scales and terrestrial and celestial frames. This also includes the problem of sensitivity of the different techniques of observation of Earth rotation. Earth rotation studies are also extended to other planets. The programme of the Journees 2001 will include the five following sessions, half-a-day each; for each session one or two members of the LOC are in charge of the local organisation; their names are given at the end of the proposed sessions: Session I : Influence of geophysical and other effects on Earth's orientation; sensitivity of the observing systems (O. de Viron, P. Defraigne). Session II : Ephemeris and dynamical reference systems (F. Roosbeek). Session III : Time and time transfer (P. Defraigne, C. Bruyninx). Session IV : Local, regional and global terrestrial frames, station positions and their interpretation; influence of the geophysical fluids, tidal, ocean and atmospheric effects (C. Bruyninx, R. Warnant). Session V : Geodesy and rotation of the other planets (T. Van Hoolst, V. Dehant). At this occasion the G. Paul, I'm sorry I didn't answer before... I've been in bed for about 10 days and I only check mail at work... I understand what you say and your patch seems to be the most reasonable thing to do... anyway at the last moment, the time zone for Argentina didn't change yesterday (and it won't do so for the foreseeable future). Last Friday (yes, the last working day before the date of the change), the Senate nulled the 1999 Law that introduced the changes later posponed. http://www.clarin.com.ar/diario/2001-06-22/s-03601.htm It remains the vote of the Deputies (kinda "the House"), but it will be the same. Sorry for the noise... but at least, I said in advance that this kind of things had allways been done this way in Argentina. We are still -03:00 all year round in all of the Country. Good morning. I am doing a work experience at Opteway and I am following your work about time zone. I noticed an error while compiling the Makefile. When it calls the target 'date', it indicates that the variable 'NITME_MSG is not declared' (date.c: 372 ). I didn't find the definition of this variable into the whole olson code. Thank you for your attention.
