Hello everyone (particularly those that are going to be on the "pre-call"): I believe that one of our responsibilities for the first call of the larger UA team is to describe how the new community UA team is going to operate and how we will incorporate the efforts of volunteers. I've tried a brief slide deck to describe my ideas. If those on the pre-call agree, we can review this model on the call. Questions by anyone are welcome. Regards, Kurt

Christian, folks, I updated the letter into one that goes to the ICANN Board of Directors. Along the way, I did some copy editing – not taking away any of the substance, but cleaning up the language and the flow. Both redline and clean versions attached. Thunderbird Email Client

On the Mozilla front, I have been reaching out within the pool of developers that I know there on browser, OS, Mobile, and email clients. With respect to email, I suspect we're not going to be able to count on Mozilla Thunderbird - the project has undergone some significant reductions in resourcing and staffing over the past 3-4 years, and it does not appear that there is a way to get improved support into the client. A reminder that we will have a quick UASG next-steps meet-up 1-1:30PM tomorrow, Thursday February 12th SGT (UTC +8) outside of Padang for in-person attendees. As this is an impromptu meeting focused mainly on outreach and answering questions to newcomers to the effort, we aren’t prepared to do remote participation at this time. Perhaps we can decide at that meeting who we want to take the mic during the public forum on this subject. Francisco: Some notes from the after match function that you had to miss after the UA Session yesterday. 1) It was agreed that the letter should be sent out to various ICANN constituencies with an explicit call to participate and a link to the mailing list subscription page included. 2) The session on Thursday will be an outreach session for people who want to engage. Please note that I will not be there. 3) I have prepared a first draft for an agenda for the conference call schedule for next week. That has been distributed to the UA list. Draft Agenda - First UASG Call

Please find below (and attached) a first draft agenda for the first conference call. You’ll see that the agenda times out to one hour, but I would suggest people be available for an additional 30 minutes in case things run a bit long. Agenda – UASG Call – date This first call of a UASG (Universal Access Steering Group) will be used to welcome new participants into the group and identify a structure for the group that will allow full and active participation for all who want to participate.
