Progress Update

Dear UASG members, This is in continuation of my last email to all of you dated 13 Aug 2024. In response to above email, some of you have reacted very positive, however some had raised Concerns about working within UASG. Subsequent to that we have moved quite a lot in all fronts. 1. Governance Issues which were being discussed , were closed and intimated to all coordination WG members, before information to you all. We were advised to firm up ‘Decision making process’ within Coodination WG and reput up these final decisions on Governance Issues again to coordination WG before sharing with you all. 2. Measurement WG has finalised SOW on “ Levelling emails as per their UA readiness” defined by EAI working group. We had a session in coordination WG with Ms Theresa, Sr VP. ICANN Org. A concern was raised that some UASG members are not following ‘ICANN Standard behaviour ‘ which is mandatory for all of us when we are communicating with each other within ICANN. After several discussions We as UASG agreed to look into this serious concern and assured that we shall try to bring process to ensure its compliances. Please recall that we agreed to implement SOI in early this year and with your support staff has already completed the process of getting the members SOI. However we are awaiting to get final outcome of the same before updating it on uasg website. In the mean time, it was suggested that SOI may not be sufficient to bring much soughted transparency in UASG. In response to some suggestions as above, coordination WG had 3-4 meetings ( More than schedule meetings) to work on open issues. I am happy to inform that First round of discussions on: a) Decision making process within UASG and b) How to use and implement ICANN standard behiour within UASG is concluded Further we have also initiated discussions on “ SOI and more” on membership and hopeful to conclud the same shortly. This is really a great progress in short time. Thanks to all members involved in the process. UASG is completing 10 years of its formation. This is ideal time to re look what UASG contributed to Internet community till date, What are our goals in next decade, what kind of structure is needed to achieve such goals etc. I request all members to kindly ponder on these thoughts and suggest “ How to celebrate 10 years of UASG existence and what next….” I would also like to submit a kind appeal to all of us. 1. Those who are enlisted as members in working groups, are requested to plan their work schedule and try to attend all meetings. This step will motivate new UASG volunteers to work with more energy and bring better results. 2. As suggested, I am attaching below “ ICANN standard behaviour” for all of us to go thru once more. https://www.icann.org/resources/pages/expected-standards-2016-06-28-en I hope this email answer all questions raised by few of you. Thank you, Anil. As you promised to keep the community updated on the progress, I just wanted to follow up briefly about the resolution of the governance issues and our concerns. Could you please provide an update on when leadership plans to address this? It would be useful for the community to know what actions are being taken to ensure UASG stays in line with its mission.
