Call for Participation Reminder! - 44th Internationalization & Unicode Conference, Santa Clara, CA - October 14-16, 2020

Hello, UA Colleagues: I want to be sure this group sees the call for participation for the Internationalisation and Unicode Conference, which takes place this October 14-16, 2020, in Santa Clara, California, USA. Do you want to propose a talk? If so, the deadline is this Friday, March 6, in the UTC-8 timezone. Many of you know the Internationalisation and Unicode Conference. For those who don't, it is a gathering of those who define The Unicode Standard for text, as well as architects of fonts, text rendering, and beyond that into software engineering aspects of internationalisation and localisation. About 100% of the audience are solidly in favour of the values and goals of Universal Acceptance. However, much fewer than 100% know what the Universal Acceptance Group does, and what the current successes and obstacles are. I think Universal Acceptance should not be absent from this conference. If anyone has questions about this conference, I have been attending for many years, and I would be happy to answer them. Others on this list are probably even more expert than I am. Notable Korean IDNs

During my explorations of Korean IDNs I have made some very interesting discoveries. Two of them are especially notable and worthy of being shared with you all. ① Jobband 잡밴드 Jobband is a Korean Recruitment Agency. It has an impressively huge set of Korean IDNs. Can we ruminate succeeding amendments In Structure of UASG Charter

Hello, I would encourage UASG community group to have one more look at the prevailing UASG Charter https://uasg.tech/uasg-charter/ and see if we can ruminate succeeding amendments In Structure. Present: Strength: One Chair and two to three Vice-Chairs Term: Two-year terms with the possibility of one reappointment so that Chairs and Vice-Chairs will serve for a period of no less than two years and no more than four. Purpose: Strength: One Chair and Four Vice-Chairs (We need at least four vice-chairs, as we have four community working groups in UASG, each of whom should oversee them apart from achieving goal of the Steering Group which is primarily to oversee and participate in the work of the UASG.) Terms: Appointment to Two-year terms with the possibility of one reappointment for Chairs and for Vice-Chairs Two-year terms with the possibility of unrestricted reappointment, both done with elections and selection by members of the UASG community. UASG community group offer your views so that UASG Secretariat can address leadership based on community feedback and implement improvements based on community feedback in the charter.
