Universal Acceptance Conference Calls...

Dear UA-Discuss list…. Between now and the middle of January I expect to hold a fortnightly conference call for the UA-Coordination Group. This group is the Chair, Vice-Chair and Project Coordinators. I expect that these will be mostly administrative. The first call will be at 23:00 UTC this coming Wednesday and occur fortnightly after that. Agenda’s will be available at least 24 hours ahead of time. I also expect to have project focused UA Calls at the same time on alternative weeks. The topic will vary from call to call. There may be additional calls as the opportunity needs. We asked the Board of Directors to support our efforts with staff resources. After the Singapore meeting, we drafted a charter and entered formal formation, receiving the staff support we requested to get the effort underway. At ICANN53 in Buenos Aires, we held our inaugural all-day workshop, detailing to the community our methodologies and proposed goals for moving the ball forward on Universal Acceptance. Just last month, ICANN approved our detailed budget request designed to support our work with the funds to make an impact. Now, after a second successful workshop with the community this past Sunday, we have a set of concrete action items with owners and deliverable dates and stand poised to move into the action phase of improving the state of Universal Acceptance. This is a great example of an effort that is truly bottom-up, with a community-driven mission that has an impact that should be felt for generations. Thanks Don for your reply, I look forward to seeing the comprehensive report detailing the completed work and completed tasks. The information below which you provided is for work that may be filed under "continuing to progress": "We have produced some specific work leading up to Dublin which I identified in my pre-Dublin report: · We are now on the third iteration of our “Introduction to Universal Acceptance” (http://1drv.ms/1G0AB1g) Rather than ‘finish’ this in Dublin (and there are still sections that haven’t even been started), we agreed to break it up into smaller documents which will be easier for us as a group to review and sign-off and get ‘published’ for people who are asking for them. The Definition of UA Ready is one of the topics. · We’re developing a Test Suite of use cases. We’re also planning on registering names relevant to the use cases and finding a way that smaller developers can make use of the domains. https://goo.gl/sJYm3P The comment period for this document finished just before Dublin. There were only minor comments. We’ll take this document and register some names that we can use as specific examples. We should also tidy up the sample text to send to webmaster when people (not just people acting as part of the UASG) encounter a website that doesn’t act like they want it to.
