A nice way to end a fairly productive year. Plans coming up: There will be a Universal Acceptance gathering on Monday the 8th of January in Hong Kong with the Hong Kong IT Community. This is being organised by .asia, ISOC HK and UASG. If you’ve not yet received an invitation but will be in Hong Kong that afternoon, please let me know and we’ll organise one. 15:00 - 18:00 at the Sheraton. The UASG Coordination Group will be meeting on Tuesday the 9th of January and the morning of the 10th if necessary, also in Hong Kong. The agenda will be out next week. Full remote participation will be available if there’s interest. There will be a meeting of EAI operators on the 11th and 12th in Guangzhou, China, hosted by Coremail and CNNIC. If you are an EAI practitioner and would like to participate and have not otherwise registered, please let me know. I expect that we’ll have remote participation facilities. The UASG is expecting another UA Workshop on Day 0 of the ICANN meeting in Puerto Rico as well as a public update session during the week. Dates and venues still to be confirmed. Thanks for sharing meeting notes, I would recommend that the meeting notes of all WG calls should also have member’s comments and opinion who were in the calls. Largely in the call, WG member’s give suggestions which should come on record. Currently when nominations for WG chair and the vice chair are open, WG members share views and recommendation on suitable candidates, same should also come on record in meeting notes. This will be useful for all WG members and leadership who were not available on call. The Universal Acceptance Steering Group is a community-based team working has a proven commitment to accountability and transparency in all of its practices in historical years. It has external as well as internal accountabilities. In recent times the contemporary decision including the selection of WG chairs is absolutely against the base fundamentals. The opinion of community members is absolutely been neglected in recent times. WG community members conveyed superlative support for Dessalegn to be chair of this WG. Leadership should have satisfy WG community members on facts before reaching on such prejudiced pronouncement. With unrelenting brashness and nepotism there will not be any future of community and WG members voice in UASG. Hello Sarmad & UASG Leadership When members of UG entreaty call for amendment in charter with a provision of nominations and their after elections for WG chair, it is been articulated that this decision will remain on leadership only and no changes were accepted in charter. But in point of fact what we are witnessing here in UASG WG’s is specific group of members are nominating desired candidates against charter terms even when no nominations are been called from others about chair choices. I do agree that Mark is a good candidate for chair because he emanate from germane contextual but I am flabbergasted why he didn’t shared his intention to chair the UA EAI WG in past two weeks and shared a Statement of Interest on the UA EAI mailing list, why suddenly others have to step forward to nominate him? Do UASG charter allows prevailing comrades of leadership to be chair of any WG? Don’t we have more germane contextual comrades in UASG Working groups who emanate from similar backgrounds? Cheers!!
