Proposed working model for pre-call
Hello everyone (particularly those that are going to be on the "pre-call"): I believe that one of our responsibilities for the first call of the larger UA team is to describe how the new community UA team is going to operate and how we will incorporate the efforts of volunteers. I've tried a brief slide deck to describe my ideas. If those on the pre-call agree, we can review this model on the call. Questions by anyone are welcome. Regards, Kurt
Thanks for putting in the work. 1. We are not a committee, so that should be changed everywhere 2. Not certain that two sub-groups are sufficient, given discussion this past Friday 3. There are components to this that are worth further, deeper discussion. We should think about what other items need discussing on the pre-call. -Ram -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- Ram Mohan o: +1.215.706.5700 x103; m: +1.215.431.0958; f: +1.215.706.5701 Skype: gliderpilot30 -----Original Message----- From: Kurt Pritz [mailto:kpritz@thedna.org] Sent: Friday, February 13, 2015 10:59 PM To: UA-discuss@icann.org Subject: [UA-discuss] Proposed working model for pre-call Hello everyone (particularly those that are going to be on the "pre-call"): I believe that one of our responsibilities for the first call of the larger UA team is to describe how the new community UA team is going to operate and how we will incorporate the efforts of volunteers. Thanks Ram. I agree with your points - especially insofar as they describe the discussion we need to have in preparing a model for the all the volunteers. See comments inline below. On Feb 14, 2015, at 2:11 PM, Ram Mohan <rmohan@afilias.info> wrote:

I am fine with changing the name. Let me know to what. I am certainly sensitive to the fact that people will associate certain names with certain community-wide obligations.
2. Not certain that two sub-groups are sufficient, given discussion this past Friday.
I think this is the nub of the discussion we must have. How do we assign, keep track of, coordinate and report on work in a way that facilitates completion. The model I proposed has many sub-groups but they are substantive in their work and report to two coordination groups. (I didn't make that very clear on the slides with the small boxes.) There are several ways to slice this and more than one model will work.
3. There are components to this that are worth further, deeper discussion.
Right. I couldn't describe the necessary detail in a slide format - a full text description might have been better. The slides are meant to be a conversations starter.
We should think about what other items need discussing on the pre-call.

Kurt, At the meeting in Singapore we discussed wanting to have an early sketch of a charter for our call next week. Jordyn discussed some ideas and suggested he and I meet before his vacation so I could take a crack at an initial draft. We did meet, and I have a document started in anticipation of the organizing call this coming week. Some of the 'full text description' we want could come there. I can attempt to synthesize your thoughts here into that, and get it to the group. Christian Dawson
