Just a heads up for whoever is interested: There is a proposal in the works in the Unicode Consortium to deprecate the "deviation" mappings in UTS#46 and to declare the transitional period to be over. This recognizes the fact that some registries are no longer compatible with the deviation mappings and some browsers have stopped supporting them. Four characters are affected, including ß and final sigma. A./

Hello Everyone The onset of the current year has brought forth auspicious tidings as years of laborious endeavors have culminated in fruitful outcomes. It is with great pleasure that I hereby announce that the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India has promulgated a public policy pertaining to Universal Acceptance and Multilingual Internet. As you all are aware that UA Day is going to be held on 28th of March 2023 and global event is also scheduled in Delhi India. To raise awareness we also conducted a roundtable discussion with Startups on 23rd Feb and a seminar on 24th Feb under local initiative of UA in Jaipur, India which was supported by FICCI, IT Voice, NIXI, Rajasthan government & ICANN and UNESCO. UA Day Google Doodle?

Not sure if this has already been discussed.It seems to me that a good way to enlighten many people about UA would be to have a UA Day Google Doodle on 28th March. UA is after all an endeavour for everyone.Google doodles home is at google.com/doodlesIf you look at some of the doodles you will see a section entitled "This Doodle's Reach".https://www.google.com/doodles/lunar-new-year-2023-south-korea reaches South Korea onlyhttps://www.google.com/doodles/lunar-new-year-2023 reaches UK, France, Australia, Indonesia, Philippines and several other countries but not the whole world.I do not know how it is determined which countries are included in the reach of a doodle. I guess it is done algorithmically. Maybe based on keyword search statistics?UA is relevant to every country/culture and so it is important that a UA Day Doodle reach includes every country in the world.Google receives many request for new doodles and so there is no guarantee that a UA Day Google Doodle request submission would succeed.Thoughts?André Schappo
