The following are the draft notes from today's calls: Also, at the end of this email are instructions for those who want to listen to the first call (recording didn't work on the second call) Don Notes EAI Evaluation: Phase 1, Part 1, review call 2018-07-09 20:00 UTC (and another call 12 hours later) The purpose of the call was to review draft 3 of the document. Results of the calls: * Include some criteria for diversity of operating system platform. Note that hardware platform will be limited to traditional computers and mobile devices - e.g. we won't be testing on the latest Tesla * There was discussion on the Geographic Diversity column. The purpose of the column was to see if there were any blatant gaps that may be served by local software not necessarily visible. We noted that we had nothing on the list from LAC, Africa or MENA. We recognize that all software can be used around the world, but we will actively seek out regional solutions to see if they should be included based on the other criteria. Also noted in the call was there was no specific Japanese focused software or service. There may need to be some more granular geographic assessments. * There were some errors in server-based software that was classified as MUAs. There may have been other category errors. Participants were asked to identify any such errors and report them to the list. * Yahoo and AOL are combining, so there is no need to have both on the list. * There's a desire to have a separate study on the UA & EAI Readiness of anti-abuse software that may separately hinder UA & EAI. This will be considered once the EAI Software and Services evaluation is completed. * A fifth selection criterion should be added where a solution may be relatively small but provides critical services of a national or international significance. * Once corrections are made to the table, we should circulate just that table to the UA-Discuss list (and elsewhere) seeking suggestions for locally popular software or services. Dear AllFirstly I would like to congratulate The Universal Acceptance Steering Group (UASG) for taking this Project thought to evaluate the existing EAI capabilities of that ecosystem, in order to measure its &ldquoEAI Readiness&rdquo. This will really be a good report which will help the industry. A small language community might use specialized software that gets lost in the larger popularity evaluation. Perhaps in addition to showing regional coverage, a list of language communities and the software typically used for them would clarify the diversity criteria being satisfied. 2) Along the same lines, the coverage table shows ap, eu, and na but not latam, middle east or Africa. Is there an investigation into those markets? Also, I suspect China and Japan have different requirements and should be distinct. 3) Perhaps we should clarify that regardless of the origin of the software, the tests should be for all languages and cultures. Software from EU should still fully support EAI from any market. Perhaps it is obvious, but it may be worth pointing out in the test criteria if not in the mission statement. 4) How do device limitations play into the testing, especially for MUA? Is my mobile device expected to display EAI in any language? Will you test MUA on multiple devices? My cable box and my car gps now tells me when I have incoming messages. How does hardware limit the mua? Is that a criteria? 5) I think security and anti-spam is one of the obstacles to EAI, since it often (or used to) rejects legitimate messages with eai. I suspect it should be part of the software types listed.
