Here are a couple questions in anticipation of the call: 1) Are there quantitative metrics for evaluating software popularity vs language community size? A small language community might use specialized software that gets lost in the larger popularity evaluation. Perhaps in addition to showing regional coverage, a list of language communities and the software typically used for them would clarify the diversity criteria being satisfied. 2) Along the same lines, the coverage table shows ap, eu, and na but not latam, middle east or Africa. Is there an investigation into those markets? Also, I suspect China and Japan have different requirements and should be distinct. 3) Perhaps we should clarify that regardless of the origin of the software, the tests should be for all languages and cultures. Software from EU should still fully support EAI from any market. Perhaps it is obvious, but it may be worth pointing out in the test criteria if not in the mission statement. 4) How do device limitations play into the testing, especially for MUA? Is my mobile device expected to display EAI in any language? Will you test MUA on multiple devices? My cable box and my car gps now tells me when I have incoming messages. How does hardware limit the mua? Is that a criteria? 5) I think security and anti-spam is one of the obstacles to EAI, since it often (or used to) rejects legitimate messages with eai. I suspect it should be part of the software types listed. I understand limiting scope of a project, but it might be useful to call out it should be considered in a future evaluation rather than just identifying it as an obstacle to the study. tex From: UA-discuss [mailto:ua-discuss-bounces@icann.org] On Behalf Of Don Hollander Sent: Sunday, July 8, 2018 11:24 AM To: ua-discuss@icann.org; ua-eai@icann.org Subject: [UA-discuss] Reminder: EAI Evaluation Phase 1, Part 1 Review calls A reminder of calls tomorrow to discuss this draft Calls are at 20:00 UTC on Monday the 9th of July and 08:00 UTC on Tuesday the 10th of July.
