Dear all: There have been some updates to the UA Wiki page over the past couple of days: In the Documents tab, we have added: UASG005 - Quick Guides in Chinese, Arabic and Russian UASG009 - Quick Guide to Tender and Contractual Documents At the bottom of this same page we have also added a Registry of Interests for those in the Coordination Group - so that there is transparency of potential vested interests when we contract out work. [UA-Discuss] Acceptance Tests done for sites

Hi All As part of .Club's effort prior to UASG, .club had hand tested around 600 popular sites [mostly from Alexa] for their ability to accept *.club* email addresses. Here is the testing spreadsheet we used: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1WIhKvD7mvK7xHyRWGNK1AcDTK7Yhdt69RXu… This spreadsheet breaks the list down into a few categories: -. Free Email providers -. Top Retailers -. Travel -. Email Newsletter Services -. Music Services -. Social Networks Of the 600 sites, roughly 65% were confirmed to have passed, 13% confirmed to have *failed*, and 21% could not be tested for one reason or another. A quick note to advise that version 8 of the Introduction to Universal Acceptance, the 40 page technical look at UA, has been published. https://community.icann.org/display/TUA/Documents This document aims to be a comprehensive look at the issues around UA with some recommendations of good practice. It’s target audience is the Systems Architects and Developers who have been tasked with getting their applications UA Ready. Many thanks to the authors, Mark & Luisa, and all others who have had a hand in it. The plan is to review the document again toward the end of this year/ beginning of next year, once it’s been ‘in the wild’ for a while to see how it can be improved. webmaster engagement letter update ?

Hi, today I wanted to send another complaint mail to a website that did not accept my private .vlaanderen address and I noticed that the template letter still contains a link to ua.thedna.org<http://ua.thedna.org> which seems to be down. As not everybody would check if the link still exists before sending the letter I guess it is best to simply remove it from the letter template. On a related note: Are there any plan for having another easy to link/read webpage (in stead of a document/quick guide) on where to point webmasters for supporting standard e-mail addresses ? The alternative ICANN link is not very friendly looking (and looks dated due to the year 2012 mentioned there) Best regards, Ron

Up to now, if the domain part of an e-mail address (i.e. the part after the [at] sign) contained the letter "Ã", this letter has been converted automatically to the character string "ss", despite mail programs having been able to handle this special character since August 2010 in theory. At that time, the Internet Standard for Internationalized Domain Names in Applications (IDNA2008) had been adapted correspondingly by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF). DENIC, too, had included the "Eszett" more than five years ago in the set of characters permitted for .de domains already. However, to date the practicality of this had been limited due to the lack of support by web browsers and e-mail applications. The DENIC-coded novelty in Thunderbird 45 is also of benefit to the users of other language families which are not based on Latin characters: In fact it paved the way for the entire range of characters under IDNA2008 to be fully available in Thunderbird starting as of now. Additionally, various characters from Greek, Farsi and Sinhala, for which re-routing has taken place so far, are now able to be resolved as characters in domains in their own right. Overall, the IDNA2008 standard, which is based on the Unicode character set, allows the coding of thousands of new characters from various script systems. As a result, tens of thousands of characters from a multitude of different script systems may be used actively in Internet browsers and e-mail applications, provided that the required client support is available.
