Programming Language Evaluation Criteria

We have a draft 0.9 version of a document to evaluate Programming Languages for their UA Readiness. Our project is to look at the most popular programming language frameworks and determine if they are UA ready and, if they are not, to make them UA ready. The evaluation is the first step. If you’re application geeky inclined, please have a look (and edit in google docs https://docs.google.com/document/d/1seUZ-6U-18hEbGAwjie3y_xxdjajLe1StZs6Ov5… if you wish) at the criteria. Please find attached the following: 1) Notes from the UASG Coordination Group Meeting - October 11 & 12, Washington DC. Please note that these are still in draft until revised and approved at the group’s next meeting 2) Revised Budget for the rest of the current Financial Year - subject to change. 3) Document - Influencing the Influencer. The UASG has three target audiences. The Doers (Programmers, Architects), the Funders (CIOs) and the Influencers (C* suite, board members, industry pundits, etc). This document proposes how to reach the Influencers 4) Protocol for election of Chair and Vice Chairs next year. 5) Slides from the White Paper kick-off 6) Slides from the Communications discussion We’ve also set some dates for face-to-face meetings of the Coordination Group in 2017. Mailman targets end of year EAI Ready Platform

Based on recent correspondence, it looks like Mailman, a very widely used mailing list management utility, will be EAI Ready by the end of the year. Here’s some relevant extracts from recent correspondence: Mailman is written in Python and that is an important fact for understanding the way forward. “I understand that the SMTP library for Python 3.5 already has EAI support. However, the most current release of Mailman (Mailman 3.0.3) does not work with Python 3.5. We have gotten confirmation for the Mailman development team that they will transition to Python 3.5 as part of the Mailman 3.1 release. We are told that Mailman 3.1 is scheduled for release at the end of this year.” “Some production installations that are running Mailman 3.0.3, but they have to install to from the source code in git. The developers are taking a lot of care to ensure that is doesn't break. Update - Date of UA Workshop in India
