Materials and funding for new gTLDs event

Hello, I wanted to know if there is any kind of materials and funding available I could use for a new GTLDs series of events in Argentina. I am a Postgraduate teacher at a University in Buenos Aires and I would like to extend a Domains class I am actually giving to make it a half day event for programming and digital marketing careers. UA Coordination Group Meeting Notes

Last week the UA Coordination Group met in Horsham, PA USA for a face-to-face meeting to further address UA issues. The meeting was open on Adobe Connect and there were a number of participants during the call. Please find attached the draft notes from that meeting (to be approved at the next meeting of the group). Please also find attached an annotated copy of the budget. (The notes also reference a program for Dublin which has already been circulated). Please let me know if you have any questions are wish to volunteer to participate in any of the efforts. Universal Acceptance (UA) is the concept of removing all technical barriers that might hinder a user from accessing any name in any top-level domain (TLD) from any web browser, email client, or other Internet application on any computer or electronic device. APNIC Labs, the research arm of the Asia Pacific Network Information Centre (APNIC) <https://www.apnic.net/> , conducted the tests and analysis, which included measuring overall and per-country acceptance of certain generic top-level domains (gTLDs) by end-users and the domain name system (DNS) as a whole. The tests show that there were no underlying infrastructure obstacles to the accessibility of any TLDs. "These results were in-line with our expectations," said ICANN's Chief Technology Officer, David Conrad. "However, there will need to be changes to systems and software to fully leverage the global opportunities these new TLDs enable." Conrad went on to note that the results of the APNIC Labs tests identified occasional problems with Adobe's Flash product working in Microsoft's Internet Explorer and Mozilla's Firefox when accessing Internationalized Domain Name (IDN) TLDs. UASG Chair Ram Mohan said "The problems identified in the report resulted in a larger than expected number of IDN TLDs being unresolvable, clearly an issue for Universal Acceptance. The UASG is reaching out to Microsoft, Mozilla and Adobe to further investigate and mitigate this issue identified in the report, and ensure problems are resolved for all TLDs." Mohan also strongly encouraged members of the Internet community to join the UASG and facilitate the proliferation of Universal Acceptance for all TLDs. Folks, BlueCoat <https://www.bluecoat.com/company-overview>, a security vendor used by most of the Fortune 500, released a report on the Web’s shadiest TLDs <https://www.bluecoat.com/company/press-releases/blue-coat-reveals-webs-shad…> on Sep 1, 2015. They recommend to their 15,000+ customers to block all listed TLDs (report attached). Most of these are new gTLDs. There are implications for universal acceptance. This will result in some discussion at the upcoming UA Coordination Summit in Horsham tomorrow and Friday. The summit will have a conference bridge for anyone interesting in participating. I would agree with that, David. People who don't think too much about it tend to think that any attempt to sell a domain name is some kind of con. Reporter laziness probably played a role too. This was a prepackaged story from a well-known vendor, the kind of thing that can easily be repurposed into something for publication in 20 minutes or less. Perhaps ICANN should put out a press release ranking security vendors by how many of their research reports are garbage. Borrowing Blue Coat's methodology, it would be quite easy to say with confidence the company has a "100% garbage" rating. Just restrict your sample to research reports you have actually read (ie, only this one).
