The Chromium browser—open source, upstream parent to both Google Chrome and the new Microsoft Edge—is getting some serious negative attention for a well-intentioned feature that checks to see if a user's ISP is "hijacking" non-existent domain results. The Intranet Redirect Detector <https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=1090985>, which makes spurious queries for random "domains" statistically unlikely to exist, is responsible for roughly half of the total traffic the world's root DNS servers receive. How to network outside Zoom sessions?

Dear Colleagues, in today's ALAC Session with the ICANN Board today, Joanna Kulesza explained the negative impact of having virtual ICANN meetings on the At-Large Community, because the essential community building social and networking component part is missing from a virtual meeting. In recent months I have attended several IGFs and the UK IGF used an interesting social event tool called REMO. More details on https://remo.co/ A demo video is available on: https://youtu.be/P01JxUBNU2Y I could imagine a break, for example, where each of the tables on the one floor is run by 1 ALAC member. And 3 tables on the other floor are run by a RALO leadership each, and people can move around from table to table. I wonder if this could be fun and helpful? Perhaps should this be checked out at some point? Perhaps there are other places that can be tested out? SecondLife? Others? Kindest regards, Olivier

Interpretation for Virtual meetings

Dear Colleagues, using the interpretation tool today at crn.interpret.world reminded me how flimsy the use of interpretation is when using Zoom and no external provider like what we have in our working group sessions etc. For example I still have difficulty muting my Zoom room audio whilst listening to the audio from interpret.world -- it seems to require some kind of a botch to do it, or to use the interpretation App. A few weeks ago I attended the Swiss IGF which had the particularity that it took place in English, German and French. For this very purpose, it used a teleconferencing software called Kudoway instead of the more common Zoom or Webex - https://kudoway.com/?kudoway_eu I am happy to report that it worked really well and its features are pretty similar to Zoom features, but it is also really easy to switch from one language channel to another and to the "floor" too. Perhaps this software should be evaluated by TTF? Kindest regards, Olivier
