Whether you plan to participate in the upcoming ICANN meeting in Beijing remotely or in person, you're invited to an update on the background and current status of major policy issues which are likely to be discussed during the Beijing Meeting. The ICANN Policy Staff will provide a briefing on Thursday 21 March at 12.00 UTC and Thursday 21 March at 19.00 UTC, summarizing policy issues across the different ICANN Supporting Organizations, namely the Generic Names Supporting Organization (GNSO), Country Code Names Supporting Organization (ccNSO) and Address Supporting Organization (ASO). Amongst other topics, updates will be provided on: * WHOIS related activities * The locking of a domain name subject to UDRP Proceedings * Protection of IGO and INGO Names * IDN ccNSO PDP * Study Group on Use of Names for Countries and Territories * SSAC report on Domain Name Registration Data Validation Taxonomy The webinar will cover other topics which will be raised during or otherwise relevant to the Beijing Meeting. In addition, staff will provide a briefing on the ALAC's activities related to current policy development issues of the Supporting Organizations. The two sessions are duplicates, scheduled to accommodate different time zones. Each session, scheduled to run for 90 minutes, will be conducted in English only. Posterous shuts down

This was one of the tools considered during the At-Large Improvements calls to allow content to be reposted to other social networks (Twitter, Facebook). I believe it was Gordon at the ICANN San Francisco meeting who sounded a cautionary note regarding relying on third party services that could disappear in the future. It was tested for the At-Large Social Media Strategy in time before the Toronto meeting and was found to be largely so slow as to be nonfunctional. http://techcrunch.com/2012/09/20/ifttt-is-the-latest-service-to-be-affected… When I saw the headline I was worried that the implementation of the At-Large Social media strategy would be derailed, but according to IFTTT's email: "...we will be removing all Twitter Triggers, disabling your ability to push tweets to places like email, Evernote and Facebook. All Personal and Shared Recipes using a Twitter Trigger will also be removed. Recipes using Twitter Actions and your ability to post new tweets via IFTTT will continue to work just fine." So using IFTTT actions to post to Twitter will be ok. A primer of what IFTTT does - https://ifttt.com/wtf Just to summarize the implementation strategy for the At-Large Social Media Strategy : - Use Confluence blog posts (similar to creating a wiki page) from the At-Large wiki. Blog Posts would be done by staff and/or the ALAC chair when testing is complete. - Use IFTTT to monitor the RSS feed of the Confluence blog posts and create a Tweet and Facebook link post which links back to the Confluence blog post Here's a link to one of the recipes : https://ifttt.com/recipes/58070 .
