I don't think this is an issue which only Tz community can make a decision on. This "Etc/UTC" defined also in CDLR data as an alias. See http://unicode.org/repos/cldr/trunk/common/bcp47/timezone.xml <type name="utc" description="UTC (Coordinated Universal Time)" alias="Etc/UTC Etc/UCT Etc/Universal Etc/Zulu UCT UTC Universal Zulu"/> Personally, I don't like the "EARTH/UTC" idea, it seems kind of ugly. Only UTC would be enough in my opinion. On Sat, Feb 23, 2019 at 11:40 PM Rodrigo Mota <rmotao@yandex.com> wrote:
Hi!
First of all, I would like to apologize to bother you. However, I would like to suggest something. Instead of using *Etc/UTC* as a Time Zone, I think that to use *EARTH/UTC* is a more elegant expression. I think there are people who don't have a nacionality but they want to belong to a group. This suggestion is because to say Etc is vulgar and EARTH is more appropriate for them.
