This is just reminder that at some point the existing coordinator needs to pass the community consensus along to the IESG. RFC6557 The TZ Coordinator is an IANA Designated Expert, as defined in Section 3.2 of [RFC5226], except as regards to appeals, as discussed in Section 5 of this document. Roughly speaking, this means that the IESG will choose one or more experts to manage the TZ database, code, and mailing list. The TZ Coordinator will also lead work to develop appropriate service metrics. There SHALL be a single lead individual and at least one backup individual for this function. Also, has there been any discussion of a backup? Regards Marshall On Sun, Apr 1, 2012 at 11:59 PM, Mariano Absatz - el Baby <baby@baby.com.ar> wrote:

I've been in touch with Paul Eggert; Paul is willing to serve as time zone coordinator. Paul has been part of the time zone community since the early 1990s; folks can read the database files to see the depth of Paul's involvement.
I'd appreciate reactions to Paul's offer; please respond within the next week. (I hope to have a new coordinator in place sooner rather than later.)

Even when I mostly involve in the list whenever Argentina starts flapping between ST and DT (and it hasn't for 3 years now), I wholeheartedly support Paul's nomination.
He's been very helpful and precise in every discusion I can remember of.
I thank him for stepping forward (and ado for all the work done so far).
