ACTION REQUIRED by May 15, 2024 For Continuation of Your UASG Membership
Dear UASG members, We hope this email finds you well. As part of ICANN’s ongoing efforts to enhance transparency and accountability within the multistakeholder ecosystem, we are reaching out to verify your continued interest in receiving information from the UASG. To retain access to UASG mailing lists, you must submit your Statement of Interest (SOI) by 15 May, 2024. This practice is consistent with other groups of the ICANN community (e.g., see SOIs for GNSO<https://community.icann.org/display/gnsosoi/New+SOIs>, or click “New SOIs” on the left menu here<https://community.icann.org/display/gnsosoi>.) The SOI form is available at https://app.smartsheet.com/b/form/725e244f1369423182ea1bf932df6962. If you are unable to complete your SOI by 15 May 2024 deadline, you will be unsubscribed from all UASG email lists. However, you can resubscribe at a later time by submitting your SOI. ICANN will publicly publish the received SOIs at https://uasg.tech/member-area/. We sincerely appreciate your cooperation and understanding in this matter. Your participation is instrumental in building a more transparent and robust community. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to us at info@uasg.tech<mailto:info@uasg.tech>. Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to your valuable contributions. Best regards, UASG Leadership Team
Hi Seda, Thank you for this initiative. However, I think some of the columns cannot be made compulsory for submission of the form. For example Employer and URL of employer. Students for example might not be employed and might never been employed before therefore they won't be able to provide that information. Thanks AK On Thu, Mar 21, 2024 at 11:05 AM Seda Akbulut via UA-discuss < ua-discuss@icann.org> wrote:

Hello Seda, Please add the full list of constituencies to the form, from GNSO site https://gnso.icann.org/en/about/stakeholders-constituencies for example there is no CPH in the list of options (Contracted Party House = RySG+RrSG), which basically represents most of the DNS infrastructure and has relations with users of the system we create. Hi Seda Thank you for the reminder regarding the completion of the SOI. I wanted to bring to your attention a concern regarding the mandatory requirement to provide a LinkedIn page or online professional profile (URL) on Institutional website* in the SOI form. As you may be aware, several countries, including mine, have restricted access to LinkedIn and other social media platforms. This restriction means that individuals like myself are unable to create or access LinkedIn accounts. Consequently, we are unable to fulfill the mandatory LinkedIn URL requirement in the SOI form. Also its completely a wrong expectation to have an individual working in any company will have online professional profile (URL) on Institutional website. I believe that such a requirement could inadvertently exclude participants from regions where access to certain platforms is restricted or not have online professional profile (URL) on Institutional website. It would be highly beneficial if alternative options or exemptions could be considered for individuals facing these accessibility challenges. Also its surprise to see why such information is made mandatory to be provided as this is not in any ICANN approved SOI formats in any SO or AC’s? Also please share with us where and what all information collected by us will be displayed? Hi Seda
Thank you for the reminder regarding the completion of the SOI. I wanted to bring to your attention a concern regarding the mandatory requirement to provide a *LinkedIn page or online professional profile (URL) on Institutional website*** *in the SOI form.
Also its completely a wrong expectation to have an individual working in any company will have online professional profile (URL) on *Institutional website**.*
I believe that such a requirement could inadvertently exclude participants from regions where access to certain platforms is restricted or not have *online professional profile (URL) on Institutional website*.

Hello Seda,
Please add the full list of constituencies to the form, from GNSO site
https://gnso.icann.org/en/about/stakeholders-constituencies [gnso.icann.org] <https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/gnso.icann.org/en/about/stakeholders-cons...>
for example there is no CPH in the list of options (Contracted Party House = RySG+RrSG),
which basically represents most of the DNS infrastructure and
has relations with users of the system we create.
Currently Constituency in the form gives selection of
BC, IPC, ISPCP, NCUC, NPOC
P.s: I'd say GNSO is not just the other group in the community, it represents almost quite large part of the community, w

Dear Vadim and Teresa, Thank you for your feedback. I will be more than happy to provide clarification. Although the SOI form requires certain information, not having an online professional profile URL does not prevent someone from becoming a member of the UASG. For such cases, you may type “NONE”. Currently we are still receiving the SOIs, and we will publish them on https://uasg.tech/member-area/ after July. I hope you find this information useful. Dear Seda and Esteemed UASG Members, I hope this message finds you well. I want to express my appreciation for ICANN's dedication to enhancing transparency and accountability within the Multistakeholder ecosystem. However, I have some concerns regarding the process outlined for submitting our Statements of Interest (SOIs) to retain access to UASG mailing lists. While I understand the importance of verifying our continued interest in receiving information from the UASG, I must highlight that the current practice diverges significantly from established ICANN standards. For instance, the SOIs for groups like the GNSO were developed collaboratively by a small team and approved by the community before implementation. In contrast, UASG is requesting members to submit their SOIs through a third-party service provider, Smart Sheet, which raises questions about data privacy and security. In all ICANN groups SOI data always remain within ICANN systems and not on any third party vendor. The selection of a third-party vendor for collecting sensitive information is concerning, especially considering the General Data Protection Regulation (EU GDPR) compliance implications. I seek assurance and information from UASG regarding how the measures are in place to safeguard our data and prevent its misuse for commercial purposes by either UASG or its contracted parties. Furthermore, I question why UASG opted for a separate submission process instead of linking our existing SOIs from the ICANN community platform, which is the standard practice across various ICANN groups. The discrepancies in the questions included in the UASG SOI form compared to other ICANN groups raise additional concerns about consistency and alignment with community-approved standards. I urge UASG leadership to provide clarity on the decision-making process behind the chosen submission method and address the privacy and security concerns raised by members. Transparency and accountability are essential values that must guide our actions within the ICANN community, and I believe it is crucial to ensure that all practices adhere to these principles. Thank you for your attention to these matters, and I look forward to your prompt response of these concerns. FYI, the GNSO requires SOIs only from those that participate in a working group and not those (like me) that merely observe the mailing list. If I want to be an active participant then I should have to submit an SOI. And that SOI should be the same as the SOIs for all other working groups. I have no issue with submitting as SOI, but shouldn't I just have to give you the link to where it already is? I don't want to have to update multiple SOIs every time something changes. There are some unique considerations for all UA mailing list people to have the SOI which is not the same for other SO/ACs. Unlike in At-Large (AFRALO) where only ALS reps/reps of individual members vote for decisions on leadership in UA everyone on the UA mailing list gets the chance to vote. In this case, anyone on the UA mailing list is a decision maker. Furthermore, if you already have an SOI in the GNSO and you engage in At Large we don't say because you already have a GNSO SOI you won't do At-Large SOI when needed. I actually have both At-Large and GNSO SOI. However, I think it will be okay to have a portion to share the link of our other existing SOIs in the SO/ACs when creating that of UA. Let's all welcome the new requirement of SOI for UA. It's long overdue to know who is who. You may not be aware, Jeff, but you are not only an observer, but rather a voting member of the group by default. That puts you in the position of being directly involved in the policy generation and outcomes of the UASG, whether you are actively pursuing that or not. Think of the UASG as one huge ICANN Working Group for practical purposes (I am not saying it is one, but I am saying in practice that's the closest comparison). Therefore, mailing list participants need to have a SOI. Best, On 21 Mar 2024 11:44, Jeff Neuman via UA-discuss wrote:

Dear UASG members,
We hope this email finds you well. This practice is consistent with other groups of the ICANN community (e.g., see SOIs for GNSO <https://community.icann.org/display/gnsosoi/New+SOIs>, or click “New SOIs” on the left menu here <https://community.icann.org/display/gnsosoi>.)

If you are unable to complete your SOI by 15 May 2024 deadline, you will be unsubscribed from all UASG email lists. However, you can resubscribe at a later time by submitting your SOI.
ICANN will publicly publish the received SOIs at https://uasg.tech/member-area/ <https://uasg.tech/member-area/>.
We sincerely appreciate your cooperation and understanding in this matter. Your participation is instrumental in building a more transparent and robust community. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to us at info@uasg.tech <mailto:info@uasg.tech>.
Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to your valuable contributions.

+1 to the SOI link I have ccNSO SOI and wouldn't like to keep up-to-date multiple SOI in almost one environment. I think, for UASG goals, providing link to any ICANN SOI would be more than enough. Best, Vadim. 22.03.2024 12:07, Maxim Alzoba via UA-discuss пишет:
