Experimental EAI "free trial" services under one's own domain name?
I am interested in how someone could set up an experimental EAI (globally inclusive) email server, under their own non-Latin domain name and with non-Latin local parts. I have heard that email service providers, e.g. maybe Microsoft or Google or Data Xgen, have "free trial" services by which one could set up an experimental server. But I don't know the specifics. Can anyone point me to a URL which describe the "free trial" services of a particular vendor? Please help me collect information on what is already available. I appreciate replies to the list. Harsha: It looks like you are offering people email accounts at domain names which you chose, right? That is helpful, but it is not what I am looking for. I am seeking services which will let me choose the non-Latin domain name, and the language of the local parts of the email address. It should look to the outside as if it is my own email server. What you have here belongs on a list of "free trials" for EAI _use_, but not on this list of "free trials" for EAI _servers_. Jim: Once an Email Server is set up, one must make a simple adjustment to masquerade any Domain Name. That is how we have made all three Domain Names work on a single server. This applies to Non-Latin Domain Names as well. One has to add an MX record pointing to your server for your Domain. The whole process I mention can be automated by writing several scripts to enter IDN Domain into your configuration files (if it is Mail Store it is just an entry to your Database). Our objectives were slightly different from what you are looking for when we set up our servers, however, it will take a few hours to add the feature you are looking for. Harsha: I see. So it sounds like it is technically possible for you to set up your servers to provide other people a free trial of email service under their domain name and with their email addresses, if you choose to do that. In that case, if you decide you want to provide that service, then I would encourage you to put up a web page describing the service, and contribute a link to that web page to my list. But I imagine that providing an email service like that may be a lot of extra work, and perhaps a distraction from your other duties. Jim, All mail servers can be configured technically to send and receive mail for different Domain Names. For Non-Latin-Email Addresses, the Server has to run SMTPUTF8, and Sri Lankan Servers run the required configurations. We have to do a few adjustments to two Servers to comply with your request, and we will let you know. However, we need to convince email providers to run SMTPUTF8 by default, and it is a hard convince currently. Thanks and regards Harsha On Thu, Jun 29, 2023 at 4:44 AM Jim DeLaHunt <list+uasg@jdlh.com> wrote:

Zoho provides limited free usage (not only trial) for a bring-your-own-domain scenario, where you can only use webmail but not SMTP/IMAP. I’m unsure about their EAI readiness, but considering they are headquartered in India, my guess would be they support. Rubens

I’m unsure about their EAI readiness, but considering they are headquartered in India, my guess would be they support.

I contacted Zoho support about their level of Universal Acceptance, and they sent me this reply:
…unfortunately, you will not be able to add domains with special characters or in other languages.… So, I guess Zoho does not belong on the list of "free trial" services for now.
I thanked them for the information, and encouraged them to treat Universal Acceptance as a market opportunity in the future. I pointed them to the uasg.tech website. I will point that an EAI Self-Certification badge, in Gold or Platinum, would fit really well into a product landing page like <https://www.zoho.com/mail/custom-domain-email.html>. Microsoft offers a one month free trial of their MS 365 packages which include hosted email on your own domain. With some pain I was able to configure it for an IDN domain which I used for testing a few years ago. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/business/#heading-ocb6f5 There are also several VPS providers who offer a 30 day free trial but that would be a lot more useful if we had some packaged setups with Courier or Postfix+Dovecot that people could start up and configure. Dear John, There is no shared calendar for UASG meetings. However, we send a reminder before each meeting. Currently, there is no meeting for this week due to 4 July holiday in the U.S. The recurring EAI WG meetings are held every Tuesday at 14:30 UTC by 7 November 2023. Then the timing may change. The next meeting is on 11 July 2023 at 14:30 UTC. I hope you find this information helpful. Let us know if you have further questions. Hello, Sudhanwa Jogalekar: Thank you for your reply. I appreciate the offer of a free account for a trial. I am not actually asking for myself. The UASG Email Address Internationalisation (EAI) Working Group has a goal of making it easier for people and organisations to experiment with using globally inclusive EAI email addresses. We hope that some of these experiments will turn into actual use. This should drive demand for universal acceptance of globally inclusive email addresses and domain names. Thus, any URLs I find which offer a "free trial" of EAI email servers might become part of a list we publish to encourage such experiments. When you say, "we can give you a free account", does "we" mean IDNMail.net? Or are you speaking for yourself? At IDNmail.net's website, it says, "Providing The Topmost Email Services for International Domain Names". This sounds quite exciting to me. I would love it if IDNmail.net were to attempt the EAI WG's "EAI Self-Certification" process, described at <https://uasg.tech/eai-certification>. It seems like a Gold or Platinum certification logo would be a good way to communicate to prospective customers who are looking for EAI services. I am very glad that you brought this to the group's attention. Thank you! Best regards, —Jim DeLaHunt (member of the EAI Working Group) On 2023-07-01 07:59, Sudhanwa Jogalekar wrote:
