[Change] DST dates for Chile will change in 2022-2023
Hello there: As of moments ago, the Internal Affairs Ministry (Ministerio del Interior) informed DST for America/Santiago will start on midnight of September 11th; and will end on April 1st, 2023. Magallanes region (America/Punta Arenas) will keep UTC -3 "indefinitely" If I recall correctly, this might alter at least the switch for 2023 This is because on September 4th we will have a voting whether to approve a new Constitution Source: https://twitter.com/min_interior/status/1556981967551209472
Thank you for the heads-up. Proposed patches attached and installed in the development repository. It looks like we'll need a new release pretty soon, as this change takes affect in about a month. It would be nice to have a URL that is something more official than a tweet, although that would merely be a commentary change.

Should show up at... https://www.interior.gob.cl/noticias/ ...although it has not done so yet. --ado On Tue, Aug 9, 2022 at 10:09 AM Paul Eggert via tz <tz@iana.org> wrote:

I've checked the patch, and the transition is applied correctly this September (and contrary what I though, it doesn't affect April's fools… I mean, April's transition) On previous occasions, I've shared the first official or press source available (in this case, the verified Twitter account from Ministerio del Interior); and then I share the decree from the Official Gazette (the legally binding document). It was published on Ministerio del Interior site a few minutes ago: https://www.interior.gob.cl/noticias/2022/08/09/comunicado-el-proximo-sabado...
