Regarding Asia/Calcutta
Hi, I would like to know whether you have removed Asia/Calcutta time zone from tz database? If so what is the solution for the existing customer who are using this timezone. No, it's still there. For example, here's what I get in Ubuntu 13.10's port of the tz database: $ date -u; TZ=Asia/Calcutta date Thu Jan 16 16:01:49 UTC 2014 Thu Jan 16 21:31:49 IST 2014 It's an alias for Asia/Kolkata, and it still works.

Unless, of course, you compile the database without the "backward" file. It would be nice if there were gradations of "backward". People might want to have links for cities that have changed names without also getting all the obsolete (pre-Great-Renaming) cruft as well. -GAWollman
