Please copy Stefan when replying as he is not a member of this list. Please look at it and proceed with updating your data base. I just accessed the reference card and got the following result for tomorrow afternoon: [graphic deleted] It seems to me that Cuiabá, Fortaleza and Maceió are wrong, they should be using DST. Furthermore, as I mentioned in my first e-mail, as of tomorrow Boa Vista, state of Roráima (RR) will also be using DST, and I think they should have a time zone of their own. Also, regarding the time zone chart for Brazil, see below, there are some things to consider: [graphic deleted] - Belém should be Amapá and the whole state of Pará. - Porto Velho should be only Rondônia, West Pará should be under Belém and Roráima should be in adifferent zone, e.g. the new Boa Vista or together with Cuiabá. Please look into this and revise if necessary. Good timing, too. I had just finished updating the Converter with updates to the database that includes changes for Brazil that were recently announced, when I received your email. I believe the time zones should now be correct for DST. The site that posts Brazilian decrees is: http://pcdsh01.on.br/ Thanks again for your input! Attached, please find a newspaper clipping from O Estado de S. Paulo of October 2, 1999, showing the Brazilian DST starting October 3, 1999 and ending on February 27, 2000. In view of that, I would like to suggest the following Brazilian time zones: Zone Standard Savings State(s) Rio Branco -5 -5 AC Manaus -4 -4 AM, RO Cuiabá -4 -3 MS, MT Boa Vista -4 -3 RR Belém -3 -3 AP, PA Brasília -3 -2 AL, BA, CE, DF, ES, GO, MA, MG, PB, PE (except Fernando de Noronha), PI, PR, RJ, RN, RS, SC, SE, SP, TO Fernando de Noronha -2 -2 PE (Archipelago of Fernando de Noronha) Comments: 1) Since the states of MT and RR are not contigous, it would be better to keep them as two different zones. 2) Further to Fernando de Noronha, there are other islands, e.g. São Pedro, São Paulo, Trindade and Martim Vaz, that probably use the same time as Fernando do Noronha. ( I have no confirmation that this zone does not adopt DST, but believe that it is true.) One question: What is the URL of DSH, the official Brazilian time info site mentioned in Time Zone Change History? Best regards, Stefan Johansson São Paulo - SP Brazil
