In any case, he was right, your comment and tone were (are) completely uncalled for. There is also a big difference between what you did and what ado did, so pulling him down on your level of contribution is very arrogant of you.

Last not least, dealing this out, and then being superpicky because somebody called you "mate" (which is nothing special) is rather childish - maybe this can be attributed to a lack of understanding of the english language?

If that's the case, you should listen when people react "weirdly": English is full of subtleties - it's often a hint that you sounded more arrogant than you actually intended to.
