Yesterday I asserted that Paul Eggert was confirmed as the list coordinator about four weeks ago. I've since gone back through the archive and didn't find an formal announcement. Can someone at IANA or in the IESG send official word? Also, I'm not sure of the procedure or criteria, if any, for banning someone from the list, but I would suggest taking a look to see if the person in question had ever gotten banned from other communities, and under what circumstances. For example, if someone had been banned multiple times from another online community for incivility and sock puppetry, and currently has an indefinite ban from that group, that would be interesting to know, wouldn't it? I assume you refer to tobias conradi's several wiki/media/pedia/etc bans? I'm not really for trying to get an agreement on a policy for banning people on this email list, even if they generate an annoying amount of mails for not much endresult . I fear the discussion on "banning policy" might take more effort/mails than it will resolve/avoid , certainly seen such behavior is a rather rare occurrence on this list :) . It is easy enough , when desired, to filter his "updates" out in any decent email client . Just avoid cc'ing him if you want to get pass the filters :) Just my 2 cents, Gunther On 09/05/12 15:38, David Braverman wrote:

Also, I’m not sure of the procedure or criteria, if any, for banning someone from the list, If no criteria are specified, what does the procedure help?
It would also be interesting to see how criteria are verified, since e.g. in Wikimedia projects, people are blocked even if published criteria for blocking are not met. It would also be interesting to see how sanctions are enforced, since e.g. in Wikimedia projects, there are instances where user A does something without getting sanctioned, but user B for the same action does get sanctioned.

A contributors bans from another online community are not specified as topic at
http://www.iana.org/time-zones or https://mm.icann.org/mailman/listinfo/tz And as well a contributors non-bans, are not specified as topic. -- Tobias Conradi Rheinsberger Str. 18 10115 Berlin Germany http://tobiasconradi.com/

Paul Eggert is the designated "TZ Coordinator" as described in RFC 6557. As for list coordinator, right now I am the one filtering through the spam in the moderator queue and tweaking Mailman configurations until things are bedded down. ICANN/IANA is just here to provide a platform to allow the group's work to be executed. I suspect decisions on how the dynamics of how this list moderates or manages its participation rightfully belongs with the group and/or TZ Coordinator rather than with what I think. Within reason, we can implement changes, new lists, or other technical approaches to support your work as necessary. kim

These Coordinator's powers over a mailing list are the same as a WG Chair. Relevant here is this IESG statement http://www.ietf.org/iesg/statement/disruptive-posting.html IESG Statement on Disruptive Posting http://www.ietf.org/iesg/statement/disruptive-posting.html The administrators of such lists are authorized to suspend disruptive posters for periods of not more than 30 days, typically after one or more explicit and public warnings, and consultation with an Area Director. see also IESG Guidance on the Moderation of IETF Working Group Mailing Lists http://www.ietf.org/iesg/statement/moderated-lists.html Regards Marshall
