Re: [tz] Chile Time Change
The offical Chilean web site for time change now confirms that the time change will occur on April 26: http://www.horaoficial.cl/cambio_hora.html Thus, the current time zone files are accurate. -G. On Feb 19, 2014, at 7:39 PM, tz-request@iana.org wrote:

List, IMO we should write a new patch defining the Chile DST __End in 2015__ to the __default__ date, which is defined by the Supreme Decree NÂș 1.489, dated Oct 6 1970. As per the decree, "... ends at 24:00 of the 2nd Saturday of March Month". As per the current rule, it will end in Apr 25, 2015; which is uncovered by any decree. Thoughts? - RF.

The tz data tries to predict the future as best we can (of course we make mistakes, but there it is). If our best guess is that Chile will revert to the 1970 decree, then we should do that; if it's that Chile will continue next year much as it has this year, then we should do that instead. Whether our guess conforms to the current legal default is less important than whether our guess turns out to be correct in practice.
