Morocco stays on GMT+1 / UTC+1 perpetually.
Hello, Today, a Moroccan government council approved the perpetual addition of 60 minutes to the regular Moroccan timezone. And thus, Morocco is going to remain on perpetual DST. Not finding any links to an online gazette or decrees, only news articles on government sites. English and Spanish translations seem to lag a few days behind the French and Arabic posts. Note that GMT+1 (rather than WEST/WET) seems to be consistently used as the abbreviation for times on government communications and sites. Dates used are mainly Gregorian even in Arabic and Berber script articles, although laws and decrees officially use the AH date. -- Take care. The decree was published in the Arabic version of the Official Gazette. http://www.sgg.gov.ma/Portals/1/BO/2018/BO_6720-bis_Ar.pdf?ver=2018-10-27-10... It doesn't appear to be available in French yet (I assume there's a delay for official translation). Also, it is an image embedded in a PDF, which makes it hard to use translation tools on. If anyone knows of a text version, please provided a link. It should appear in French in about a week under: http://www.sgg.gov.ma/Legislation/BulletinsOfficielsAns.aspx as: http://www.sgg.gov.ma/Portals/0/BO/2018/BO_6720_Fr.pdf but they too seem to be graphic scans which will need OCRed to text. -- Take care. Thanks for the heads-up. This seems to be the first official fallout from the European Commission proposal to abolish DST in Europe. It would be odd to use the abbreviation "CET" for time in Morocco as Morocco is neither central nor European (and the oddness will likely increase if the EU abolishes DST), so the attached proposed patch changes time zone abbreviations to be numeric in Morocco. As the change takes effect tomorrow (with practical effect Sunday) we'll need a new tzdb release shortly. This decision by Morocco may affect the near-future choice of time zone in Spain, where there is a good deal of controversy and the possibility that Spain may split into 3 timezones instead of the current 2, with the Balearic Islands hiving off, resulting in a new tzdb Zone.
