This just doesn't ring true to me. If the amount of space take up by 100 more aliases (much less 37, or 9) is significant, then something is very very wrong.
That's your opinion, and you're welcome to it. The issue is that it isn't just capitals. You mentioned those and some other people mentioned them, but others have discussed this as a generic wish to be able to point to some spot on a map, or mention the town they are in, and have the right timezone pop up. That's a perfectly valid wish but it's a UI matter, and it belongs in systems that have the space for such databases. paul
