From: guy@netapp.com (Guy Harris) Date: Fri, 6 May 1994 17:12:32 -0700 (PDT) If there are any countries where the rules require an Olson-style specification other than "XXX>=(1 + n*7)", that's a strong argument in favor of just picking up the Olson code and using that Lots of places have time zone rules for which Posix does not suffice, but the Olson style specs do. Australia, Britain, China, and Israel come to mind, and I'm sure there are others. People in those countries who have only Posix implementations have the hassle of changing their TZ strings every year.
