No, not at all. The Wikipedia page is derived from tzdata, and is not a reliable source is its own right. The other sources are not English-language.

Maybe tzdata should adopt those abbreviations, they look fine to me at first glance, at least much better than pure numerics.
The number in RTZ6 is just an ordinal number of time zone as listed in the law. And these numbers were changed in 2014 (RTZ5 became RTZ6 while RTZ1 remained RTZ1). And before 2011 there were time belts, which were numbered according to their UTC offsets (0 to 23 starting with the Greenwich meridian according to 1919 decree). Except since 1930 one had to add extra hour to that number for the decree time. And many regions were officially in one time belt but were using time from another. AFAIK, time zones in Russia do not have names (except for Moscow time). Everyone is referring to them by whatever representative location he chooses. (Moscow time is currently defined in the law as the "time of the time zone where Moscow is located".)
