In a vacuum, that'd perhaps be fine (although bad memories of WWII might be a reason to say it isn't). But I think the real reason for concern is that the proposed change causes a default build of tzdb to contain strictly worse (less accurate) data for NO than what was there before.
I see that point, though it depends on how you view pre-1970 data. After all, the data is already wrong for much of the area covered by Europe/Berlin and possibly (I wouldn't be surprised either way) much of the area covered by Europe/Oslo. But it's a completely different argument to the "but they're different countries" one that's been going around this list. That's the one that I don't understand. -- Clive D.W.
