Seconded! One of my main problems has been getting a reliable base for historic material. Many systems simply ignore dates prior to 1970, but a large number of us are using genealogical databases and need to know that we are working with the same numbers.
I also value the pre-1970 data; although I can't claim an impressive user-base for my particular programs, there may well be a fair few projects out there that are quietly making good use of that data.
