The choice of the term "local time differential" was unfortunate because commonly, a differential is not a difference. The terminology was changed • in [ISO 8601:1988] to "time difference" • in [ISO 8601-1:2019] to "time shift" but the definition as time shift = local time - UTC remained the same. Michael Deckers.
