@dashdashado I wonder what the PDF could be worth in this discussion, since is does not contain any single acronym for a time zone.
Nor the name "Eastern", or indeed any name (at least NSW's says "New South Wales summer time"). Maybe we should just use MELT/MELST. The states don't seem to be, as a rule, interested in specifying how to refer to the timezones from outside of them.
