Nominations for UASG leadership roles
As per the requests on the call to open nominations for leadership roles within UASG, I’d like to nominate Ram Mohan to continue as our Chair. Hi everybody, I seem to have misunderstood something on the call. I thought we had agreed to give us all a few days to digest Christian´s proposal and come back with comments. However nominations are already being made on a structure we have yet to agree upon? Clarification would be most appreciated. Ram suggested we start a 3 week nomination process and a 2 week editing process in parallel, and there wasn’t dissent. So by the time the nominations end we will have everything sorted and be sure we’re nominating into the properly defined roles - but it gives us time to shake out leadership interest and do SOIs and such. I think that’s a fine idea. Though this is not a policy group, does the group wish to use standard Working Group format for these SOIs?

Dear all, First, one quick suggestion - I would like to see all of the steps, clearly written on the list. This way we avoid misunderstandings. Second, personally, I am interested in a role of the Internationalization Project Group Chair, and regarding that, I would like to put one quick question: Project group chair is, or is not part of the SG? Dušan, Completely reasonable. Ram wrote out the steps in the notes of the AdobeConnect room. As soon as that is archived somebody can grab it and post it - I’d prefer not to try to redo his work from memory. As of right now, the way it’s structured is that the entire group is the Steering Group, so as Internationalization Project Group Coordinator you would certainly be part of the Universal Acceptance Steering Group - but there’s a small coordinating body (one Chair and two Vice-Chairs) that handles budgets, macro group meetings and coordination between Project Groups, and you wouldn’t be in one of those three roles. The general idea is that the Project Group Coordinators and the Chair and Vice Chairs that sit outside their process together make up the leadership team for the UASG - so assuming we choose to move ahead with the four proposed groups as-is, we would have between 4 and 8 Coordinators. Let’s call it 8. The total leadership committee for the UASG would then be 8 Project Group Coordinators, one Chair and 2 Vice Chairs for a total of 11 in UASG leadership. Does that make sense? -Christian

Thanks, Christian, Let me correct the word "question" from my previous mail, into "suggestion on the proposed material", because I completely understood the meaning of the "small coordinating body". The three people of that small group must be filled with materials and requests from the Project Group Coordinators (PGC). I don't see the point of that small group without PGCs in this group. I think that a group of about (or "up to") 11 people with one chair and two co-chair is functional, reasonable and effective - UASG leadership as You describe. Let me correct the word "question" from my previous mail, into "suggestion on the proposed material", because I completely understood the meaning of the "small coordinating body".

Dear all,
First, one quick suggestion - I would like to see all of the steps, clearly written on the list. This way we avoid misunderstandings. Second, personally, I am interested in a role of the Internationalization Project Group Chair, and regarding that, I would like to put one quick question: Project group chair is, or is not part of the SG?
