Back in 2022, ICANN Africa gave myself and William Stucke a (second) repeat of the "DNS Study of Africa". This time, an Observatory was also included which I designed. You can find it at https://observatory.dnsstudy.africa
(I'm also the local UA representative in South Africa and am on
the ICANN DNSSEC & Security Workshop planning committee)
We include all 55 African countries - except Namibia (politics).
Some African ccTLDs co-operated - many unfortunately did not.
The first page gives a summary of things like a Country Domain
Count, DNSSEC Algo in use, Number of IDNs - etc.
You can click on either a country or a 2nd level domain for more
info (I run EDU.ZA - so lots of info).
Some of the more progressive countries supply constant zone info
and we act as a formal Secondary service for them. We also re-run
stats on these domains on the 1st of every month and thus present
up to date stats.
We also draw some pie charts (of where domains are) and line chars (of growth).
If there are no updates, data is unfortunately 15 months old. If there had been more co-operation, then the Secondary service would have been an AnyCast service in a number of African countries.
So, the system is not perfect - but does give a good idea of what
is happening.
South Korea NIC KRNIC clearly displays the number of registered Domain Names for their TLDs, .kr and .한국. See https://한국인터넷정보센터.한국/#secondPage or https://한국인터넷정보센터.한국/#secondPage
The numbers are updated on the 3rd of every month.
This makes it so easy to get the stats for Korean Domain Names. It would be really good if every NIC made their Domain Name numbers so easily accessible.
Anyone know of any other NICs/Registries which make their stats easily viewable?
