Sao Tome Principe change of time zone
Multiple sources tell that Sao Tome changed from UTC to UTC+1 as they entered the year 2018: https://www.dn.pt/lusa/interior/relogios-avancam-uma-hora-em-sao-tome-e-prin... http://pt.rfi.fr/sao-tome-e-principe/20180101-sao-tome-e-principe-muda-de-ho... http://www.stp-press.st/2017/12/23/sao-tome-e-principe-vai-mudar-hora-a-part... So it seems the Africa/Sao_Tome zone needs to activated again! Our English summary: https://www.timeanddate.com/news/time/sao-tome-principe-time-zone-change.htm... Best regards, Steffen Thorsen - timeanddate.com
Thanks for the heads-up. It looks like we'll need a new tzdb release soon, since this change already happened. Too bad they didn't tell us when they made the decision (on December 23? not much notice even for those in the know). Proposed patches attached.
On 2018-01-08 17:21, Paul Eggert propsed:
0:00 - GMT 2018 Jan 1 00:00
The mentioned link quotes João Vicente Lima (director of meteorology): "A partir de janeiro de 2018, à primeira hora da manhã, vamos aumentar o relógio em mais 60 minutos" [Beginning with January 2018, at 1 hour in the morning, we are going to advance the clock by plus 60 minutes] so that the switch is from 01:00 to 02:00, not from 00:00 to 01:00. The official legislation is available at [http://www.mnec.gov.st/index.php/publicacoes/documentos/file/90-decreto-lei-...] and says the same. So we should use 0:00 - GMT 2018 Jan 1 01:00 Michael Deckers.
