Dear Muhammed Safeer As far as I am able to determine, there is no general formula to determine time zone from lat/long. We are able to use certain rules in the Global Gazetteer, and keep time zone information in a variety of ways. In the end, though it is necessary to code places by hand. The hierarchy that I use goes as follows: 1. The whole of a country keeps to the same time zone, e.g. UK 2. The country is split into different time zones, but it is possible to assign time zone via administrative level 1 (e.g. Spain). 3. Some administrative level 1s are split themselves into different time zones, but lower level administrative areas fall into the different time zones (e.g. US counties) 4. Finally, there are some areas where there appears to be no obvious way in which admin. areas can be used to determine time zones, although this may be due to my lack of knowledge and/or data. E.g. the Broken Hill area in Australia. It is at this level that I code these by hand and assign the correct zone.
