Syria is still on DST, contrary to the dates they announced earlier this year, and since current tzdata says it ended on 2008-10-01, the current timestamps are wrong. The Syrian government has not yet announced when DST will end. Based on what we were able to find out, it will end on or around 2008-11-01, but the exact date will probably be announced soon. Syria has now officially decided to end DST on 2008-11-01 this year, according to the following article in the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA). The article is in Arabic, and seems to tell that they will go back to winter time on 2008-11-01 at 00:00 local daylight time (delaying/setting clocks back 60 minutes). http://sana.sy/ara/2/2008/10/07/195459.htm Regards, Steffen Thorsen - timeanddate.com
