Set up correct name to Zone Europe/Kyiv
Hello All, In source file https://github.com/eggert/tz/blob/master/europe please change city name to correspondent standards ISO 3166-2:UA and UNGEGN. We have to write bug reports to software developers, because time zone entry names are incorrect. Incorrect name of time zone entries can't be used for our practical needs. ------------- str: 3663 from 'Zone Europe/Kiev' to 'Zone Europe/Kyiv' # ISO city code is UA-30 (https://www.iso.org/obp/ui/#iso:code:3166:UA ) ------------- str: 3691 from 'Zone Europe/Zaporozhye' to 'Zone Europe/Zaporizhzhia' ------------- Rules transliteraion from Ukranian to Latin see on site http://zakon4.rada.gov.ua/laws/show/55-2010-%D0%BF On-line service transliteration: https://dmsu.gov.ua/transliteration.html Oleksii. Kyiv.
The tz names are in the English language, and the most common usage in English for the city is "Kiev" even if this is not strictly correct locally. It is similar to Europe/Rome, Europe/Athens, Europe/Warsaw, Europe/Moscow, etc., so Kiev is in good company. For more details, please see an earlier message on this topic: http://mm.icann.org/pipermail/tz/2016-April/023512.html
