Brazil's summer time: Tocantins is the new state on DST
Hi, This years DST time in Brazil has one (or two) new situations: - Tocantins state will have DST. For the new time zone I believe Palmas would be a good option as it's Tocantins capital and most populated city. - Bahia (another state) will not have DST. But I believe it havent' last year already but this has to be checked. Here is a link to a news post in portuguese reporting this changes: http://noticias.terra.com.br/brasil/noticias/0,,OI6232536-EI306,00-TO+substi... Now it seems that Tocantins might not observe DST after all, as told in the article link below, but it seems a bit unclear if they are actually able to revoke the DST or not, hopefully more details will follow. http://surgiu.com.br/noticia/54230/governo-volta-atras-e-decide-revogar-decr... And by the way, Bahia did observe DST last summer, so that is a change. Best regards, Steffen Thorsen - timeanddate.com

Still confusing reports on whether Tocantins will use DST this year. In today article: http://cenariotocantins.com.br/principal/tocantins-nao-adere-ao-horario-de- verao/ Tocantins não adere ao horário de verão (Tocantins not adhere to DST) where governor Siqueira Campos has not joined the program, stating that "DST decision is the state and not an imposition of the federal government." this news is from last year. Tocantis will observe DST because of this decree https://www.planalto.gov.br/ccivil_03/_ato2011-2014/2012/decreto/d7826.htm On Fri, Oct 19, 2012 at 12:39 PM, Alexander Krivenyshev < worldtimezone@yahoo.com> wrote:

In the end, I can't find a source that confirms that Tocantins will not participate in the DST. The attached patch fixes America/Bahia and America/Araguaina to respectively remove and add DST starting Oct 21 2012. -- Antonio Terceiro <terceiro@softwarelivre.org> http://softwarelivre.org/terceiro
