RE: daylight saving time in Saudi Arabia
I have just received a reply from my contact in Riyadh who says "No, not even a rumour here" to the question - as far as we can see there is no DST in Saudi. Alex Bailey EDS-Xerox EMEA Network Support Marlow, UK.

In comp.sys.hp.hpux you write:
Saudi Arabia goes to daylight saving time at midnite on 3/4/98, ie tomorrow nite.
Can you please give more details about this? Did Saudi Arabia just start using daylight-saving time this year? Does Saudi Arabia use the same daylight-saving rules as Jordan, or some other rules? (Jordan switches forward on the first Friday in April at 00:00, and switches back on the third Friday in September at 01:00.)
Do you know whether other nearby countries are also newly observing DST?
Thanks for any information you can provide; I'll include it in the public domain daylight-saving time database at ftp://elsie.nci.nih.gov/pub/.
