More daylight savings in Australia
The states of NSW, Victoria, ACT, Tasmania plan to harmonize DST, starting October 2007. "Under the plan, clocks will go forward one hour on the first Sunday in October, instead of on the last Sunday, and will be wound back by an hour on the first Sunday in April, rather than on the last Sunday in March." http://www.news.com.au/story/0,23599,21549128-2,00.html Regards, Eric Ulevik

Thanks for the heads-up. Today's Sydney Morning Herald reports that South Australia and the Northern Territory (!) may sign up later, but that Western Australia and Queensland will not be involved. Perhaps we should wait a bit to see who falls into line. Also, the SMH says only "it is believed" the dates are as you mentioned. http://www.smh.com.au/articles/2007/04/12/1175971265494.html This is currently listed as the #4 most-viewed article on the Sydney Morning Herald web site. A slow news day?

I expect that this page will change if the new DST rules become official in NSW (you'll have to join the two lines together to form the correct URL):

The source of record varies by state. NSW and Tasmania will require legislative changes however ACT and Victoria should not. I will try and find the relevant declarations for ACT and Victoria once changes are made. The relevant acts are: NSW Standard Time Act 1987 http://www.austlii.edu.au/au/legis/nsw/consol_act/sta1987137/ Tasmania - Daylight Savings Act 1968 http://www.austlii.edu.au/au/legis/tas/consol_act/dsa1968165/ ACT - Standard Time and Summer Time Act 1972 http://www.austlii.edu.au/au/legis/act/consol_act/stasta1972279/ Victoria - Summer Time Act 1972 http://www.austlii.edu.au/au/legis/vic/consol_act.sav/sta1972147/ Regards, Eric Ulevik On 4/14/07, Christopher Hunt <huntc@internode.on.net> wrote:

Folks, Do we have any official word on what will happen in Western/Southern Australia and when? My Australian office tells me that it now looks like South Australia, NSW, ACT, Victoria, and Tasmania DST changes will occur the first Sunday in April 2008 - instead of the first Sunday in October 2007. All changes are permanent except for South Australia, which will undergo a 'trial' change. --Sue Susan Johnson Manager, Customer Engineering Product Management Kronos Incorporated p: (978) 947-4342 f: (978) 367-5818 www.kronos.com Experts at Improving the Performance of People and Business™ -----Original Message----- From: Paul Eggert [mailto:eggert@CS.UCLA.EDU] Sent: Friday, April 13, 2007 4:12 AM To: tz@lecserver.nci.nih.gov Subject: Re: More daylight savings in Australia "Eric Ulevik" <eulevik@gmail.com> writes:
