[Fwd: Fwd: Please stop the change to Argentina's summer time.]
Hi, Margarita is not on the tz mailing list and she asked me to forward this to you.... if you want replies to reach her, don't forget to add her address to the Cc: As this paper news (http://www.lanacion.com.ar/nota.asp?nota_id=1187055 <http://www.lanacion.com.ar/nota.asp?nota_id=1187055>) that Arnaldo just sent to the list, confirms, there will be no DST change in Argentina this weekend (although the Decree wasn't published in time). I checked Margarita's patch and it seems OK to me (for what I read last year, she works with the Debian people helping them maintain the tzdata package at least in stuff related to Argentina). To: tz@elsie.nci.nih.gov It looks like it's almost certain that no change will take place on Sunday: http://www.lanacion.com.ar/nota.asp?nota_id=1186963&pid=7542694&toi=6275 "El Gobierno suspende el cambio de hora" -> Government postpones the time change. http://www.boletinsantafesino.com.ar/noticia.php?subaction=showfull&id=12556... "El domingo no cambiará la hora oficial, el gobierno nacional dio marcha atrás" -> the time won't change on Sunday, national government has changed its mind. And several others like that. I'm really sorry for living in such a stupid country that can't take decisions like these with more than 2 days of anticipation. The worse thing is that the news say that they might finally decide to implement it later on, and I'm sure it'll be done with the same amount of time of anticipation :(. I'm attaching a patch to fix it for now, until they decide to tell us when the time will change, if it changes. -- Besos, Marga -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- - Theory is when you know something but it doesn't work. - Practice is when something works but you don't know why. - Usually we combine theory and practice: Nothing works and we don't know why. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- * TagZilla 0.066 * http://tagzilla.mozdev.org

Is there no official tzdata update for this yet?

Regards. Hi there,
Margarita's patch made it into all active ubuntu releases (hardy-updates, intrepid-updates and jaunty-updates), as well as the release ready to launch in 10 days (karmic): https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/tzdata/+bug/453165 I have personally installed in a few jaunty servers and workstations and a couple of hardy servers and everything is working fine. AFAIK, it is also making its way into the different debian releases (sid, lenny and etch). -- Mariano Absatz - "El Baby" baby@baby.com.ar www.clueless.com.ar -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- There is no abstract art.
