The Alaska House of Representatives passed HB 19 to eliminate DST
The Alaska House of Representatives passed HB 19 to eliminate daylight-saving time. It is now in the hands of the Senate. Interesting wording: * Section 1. AS 44.12 is amended by adding a new section to read: Article 5. Standard Time. Sec. 44.12.400. Exemption from daylight saving time. Under 15 U.S.C. 260a, this state exempts itself and all of its political subdivisions from observation of advanced time, also known as daylight saving time, between 2:00 a.m. on the second Sunday in March and 2:00 a.m. on the first Sunday in November in each calendar year, and the entire state and all of its political subdivisions shall observe the standard time that is otherwise applicable during that time period. ----------------------- So if the US Congress extends DST to be the from the second Sunday in February until the first Sunday in December them Alaska will observe standard time in January, DST in part of Feb and Mar, then standard time through spring and summer, and then DST in November, then back to standard. I wonder if there is reason why the bill doesn't exempt Alaska from DST, PERIOD. ++PLS -----Original Message----- From: news [mailto:news@ger.gmane.org] On Behalf Of Alexander Krivenyshev Sent: Saturday, April 04, 2009 10:47 AM To: tz@lecserver.nci.nih.gov Subject: The Alaska House of Representatives passed HB 19 to eliminate DST The Alaska House of Representatives passed HB 19 to eliminate daylight-saving time.
