NewsCode=50368&NewsKind=Current%20Affairs ----------------------- Friday, March 16, 2007 - ©2005 IranMania.com LONDON, March 16 (IranMania) - Parliamentarians have prepared a double-urgency draft on daylight saving time based on which the government will be obliged to change the timings by an hour at the start of spring and autumn. According to IRNA, 37 parliamentarians presented the draft to Majlis Presiding Board. The draft referred to the successful experiences of the past and reports of Majlis Research Center about the economic advantages of changing the time at the beginning of spring and autumn. MPs have proposed that the formal time in the country be adjusted forward by an hour early spring (to start March 21) and retracted in autumn by an hour. Earlier, Energy Minister Parviz Fattah said the government is opposed to changing the time. Daylight saving time (DST) is the convention of advancing clocks so that evenings have more daylight and mornings have less. DST can save energy by substituting summer afternoon sunlight for electrical lighting. Consequently, it influences the economy and traffic accident rates. ----------------------------- Alexander Krivenyshev http://www.worldtimezone.com New York, NY
